Shinkamigoto in Nagasaki Prefecture is known as a region where Christian history and a culture of prayer have been preserved for generations. It is often called the “Island of Prayer.” In this experience, rosaries once used in places of prayer are respectfully reused and transformed into new handcrafted items. You will create an original bracelet accessory using rosary parts and a kaleidoscope that reveals beautiful patterns through light. Each material carries its own story, and your finished creations will become meaningful keepsakes reflecting your time on the island and its spirit of prayer. During the workshop, you’ll also learn about the history and culture of prayer in Shinkamigoto. This is more than a simple craft activity—you’ll create while connecting with the region’s unique cultural background. You can take your finished items home the same day. They will serve as meaningful souvenirs that preserve the memories of your journey. This program is ideal for travelers seeking cultural experiences, those interested in art and crafts, and anyone looking to enjoy a more sustainable journey.
